When it comes to making your wedding preparations, don’t forget that personal preparations that shouldn’t be left until the last minute. I’m talking about your bridal beauty regimen: hair, makeup, nails, skin care, and more. We all want to look our best on the big day, so I’ve put together a schedule for a few health and beauty treatments you may be considering.

1. Months in Advance: Hair and Makeup Appointments
I suggest scheduling a “trial run” of hair and makeup prior to the wedding day. The time frame to schedule a run-through depends on what type of stylist you are using. If you are using a hair and makeup artist at a hotel spa, I suggest waiting until about two months prior to the wedding; that way it is more likely that the person with whom you do the run-through will still be employed at the spa when your wedding day comes around. If you use someone with whom you have a personal relationship, do it shortly after choosing the gown and head piece. That way if you want to grow out your hair, you have the time to do so. I always recommend looking through our vendors recommendations for makeup and hair.

2. Week(s) in Advance: Waxing and Facial Appointments
If it’s your first experience with waxing, the best thing to do would be to book an initial appointment about a month prior to the wedding. This will give your skin time to heal if you should encounter any irritation or sensitivity. Then book a second appointment two to three days prior to the wedding, particularly for any facial waxing, to freshen up your look, but still allowing time for any redness or swelling to dissipate.Pre-wedding skincare is important, to look and feel confident on your big day. In addition to staying hydrated and keeping your skin clean and moisturized, you may want to incorporate a facial or two into your pre-wedding skincare regimen. Schedule your facial the week before, but be sure to communicate with your esthetician and let her know about the upcoming wedding.

If you’re planning to schedule any treatments with more permanent results (such as dental whitening, Botox injections, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, or chemical peels), be sure to meet with a qualified service provider well in advance of your wedding date for a consultation. While these procedures may yield positive and lasting results, it’s best not to leave them until the last minute, as they may require some healing time in order to produce the full desired result.

3. Days in Advance: Manicure and Pedicure Appointments
I suggest doing all nail appointments one to two days before the wedding, so that the polish is dry and completely hardened for the wedding day, but your nails still look fresh and chip-free. Keep in mind, if you’re going for a natural look on your wedding day, don’t forget to take your vitamins to help with strong, healthy nails!One last tip– don’t let the guys off the hook, brides! Remember, their hair, skin, and even nails (closeup shots of the rings) will be photographed just as much as yours, so don’t hesitate to pamper them as well!

New York City Hall Wedding

Not too often you have an opportunity to shoot an eloped wedding. Eloping to Vegas – Yeah, maybe, but our favorite New York? That’s what Ginelle & Mike did – came to New York for a week and exchanged their wedding wows while here. They also took their time to search for the right photographer who would be able to capture their love and the feeling of the day. Who else, Julian Ribinik Photography team was able to deliver some stunning images. A couple wanted to capture their wows and then take a stroll through some beautiful parts of NYC. They did exactly that and some more Congratulations, Ginelle & Mike and wish you a lifetime of happiness!

I know I have said it before but Monique Lhuillier did it again! She knows how to give us something to lust over and over. This is her latest collection for 2013. Monique has said that the “pure fantasy” of weddings inspires her and you can definitely see that in her latest creations.

So Vera Wang surprised us again! With her new 2013 collection hitting runways yesterday at the New York Bridal Fashion week she showed loooots of red. Actually, lots of red and burgundy and scarlet and any other shades of red that surprised many of us What do you think??? I looove the dresses but bridal gown in red might be a little too much for me to wear See for yourself!

So I have been missing in action )) It was definitely action starting the wedding season of 2012 and moving to a bigger apartment. Now when I walk through the boxes (no, I have not had a chance to unpack everything yet and my 15 months old is not helping the process by putting stuff back into the boxes )) I can actually sort everything out and through away whatever I have not used since our last move

What am I trying to say? Wedding industry changed over the last year or two. People still spend the money on their weddings, of course they do, but they spend it differently than people used to 5-10 years ago. They splurge on nice intimate venues and great photographers and bands but they don’t waste it where it’s not that needed. So I came across Mercy’s post and saw an excellent placecard idea that doesn’t require a ton of money and actually is very creative!

“Go to the nearest dollar store, raid the children’s section for plastic animals, and spray paint them all white…voila! Perfect for a rehearsal dinner or backyard wedding!” (C) Mercy New York

The wedding may be known as the “bride’s big day,” but the groom is getting married too, right? Here are ten ways the groom can take an active role in preparing for the most important day of his life.

1. License to Wed: Do not wait until the last minute! Familiarize yourself with your state’s requirements and waiting periods so that you can be legally married by the time those wedding bells ring.

2. Best Man and Groomsmen: Grooms have often times chosen the best man before they’ve chosen their bride-to-be. Groomsmen also play an important role and grooms want to make sure they all have his back. It’s considered courtesy to include your soon-to-be brother-in-laws in the wedding party, as well. Depending on how many groomsmen/bridesmaids there will be, there’s always room for more friends to serve as ushers. A rule of thumb is one usher per 50 guests.

3. Wedding Vow Basics: If you’ve decided to upgrade the traditional vows and pen your own words, remember to include your intentions for marriage, what marriage and commitment means to you, and state the promises you intend to keep.

4. More Bling: The engagement ring has been purchased and shown off, now it’s time to head back to the jeweler to select weddings bands. Do some research and decide if you want matching bands or something unique. It’s recommended to have the bands picked out a minimum of three months in advance of the wedding. This leaves time for them to be ordered, shipped, and re-sized, if needed.

5. Groom Showers: Instead of place settings, bath towels, and platters, the gifts given at a groom-friendly shower are power tools, speakers, and BBQ equipment. It’s become common for a couple to have at least one couple’s or “man” shower during their engagement. The best part: These are gifts that both the groom and bride will enjoy.

6. Party Hardy: When you hear the words “bachelor party,” many think of bars, beer, and more beer. Today, however, adventure and destination bachelor parties are becoming more popular. Many grooms are trading in night clubs for golf outings, camping trips, and even sky-diving. Some couples are even having joint bachelor/bachelorette weekends that involve a weekend trip to wine country or a beach house.

7. Groomsmen Gifts: Thank your attendants for being part of the big day. Many grooms opt for a practical, engraved gift that can be put to use (business card holder, cuff links, or watch). However, creativity is key for men today as popular gifts have become tickets to sporting events, bottles of aged wine, and even weekend excursions (with the groom footing the bill).

8. Style Matters: What the groom and groomsmen wear on the wedding day is usually coordinated with the wedding colors and bridesmaids’ dresses. Grooms who want to add their own style and flair can accessorize. A pocket square, an intriguing tie or stand-out shoes can make an impact.

9. Have Your Cake and Eat it Too: The groom’s cake is a themed wedding dessert that’s selected and paid for by the groom and his family. The theme is generally a major interest or hobby in the groom’s life. Some examples include a favorite sports team logo or a pastime such as fishing, fixing up cars, or traveling. The groom’s cake is often served at the reception along with the main wedding cake (just make sure it’s smaller in stature than the main cake), but can also be served at the rehearsal dinner.

10. Class Act: Grooms see standing up in front of his family and friends to toast his new wife as one of the scariest things to do. Remember, practice makes perfect!
